Let us understand 6^th House following are the significations of 6^th house

If the ascendant lord is in the 6^th and related to a malefic the native will be devoid of physical happiness, and will be troubled by enemies if there is no benefic aspect

BPHS.24.6

2^nd lord is in the 6^th along with a benefic the native will gain wealth through his enemies, if be with a malefic there will be loss through enemies apart from mutilation of shanks BPHS 24.18

He will be happy, selfish and kind, If the 6^th lord is in the 6^th the native will have enmity with the group of his kinsmen but be friendly to others and will enjoy mediocre happiness in matters like wealth.

If the 6^th lord is in the 7^th, the native will be deprived of happiness through wedlock. He will be famous, virtuous, honourable, adventurous and wealthy. If the 6^th lord is in the 8^th the native will be sickly inimical, will desire other’s wealth, be interested in other’s wives and be impure. If the 6^th lord is in the 9^th the native will trade in wood and stones and will have fluctuating professional fortunes, If the 6^th lord is in the 10^th lord, the native will be well known among his men,will not be respectfully disposed to his father and will be happy in foreign countries.He will be a gifted speaker. If the lord of the sixth is associated with a benefic, the native will enjoy good health. He will have many relations and many enemies. If the lord of the sixth is weak, there will be destruction of enemies. BS 65-66

Phaladeepika Ch 14

1. All matters relating to diseases should be ascertained from (a) the planets in the 6th house, (b) the planets in the 8th house (c) the planets in the 12th house, (d) the lord of the 6th house and (e) the planets associated with the lord of the 6^th house. The particular disease may be predicted if the same happens to be indicated by two, three or more independent planetary dispositions.

2. The Sun is the significator for following diseases and troubles (1) bile, (2) high fever, (3) burning in the body, (4) epilepsy, (5) heart diseases, (6) eye troubles (7) stomach troubles, (8) skin diseases (9) lecorrhea, (10) danger from enemies, (11) danger from wood, fire, weapon and poison, (12) distress from wife and sons, (13) danger from thieves or quadrupeds, (14) danger from snakes (15) danger from the king, the God Yama and God Shiva.

3. The Moon's significations in this chapter are (1) Excessive sleepiness or sleeplessness, (2) laziess, (3) phelgmatic affliction, (4) dysentry or diarrhoea, (5) carbuncle, (6) typhoid fever, (7) danger from horned or watery animals or creatures, (8) loss of appetite, (9) indigestion (10) tastelessness, (11) trouble from women (12) jaundice, (13) impurity of blood, (14) danger from water, (15) mental fatigue (16) fear from Balagrahas, the Goddess Durga. kinnaras, the God yama, snakes, and female Yaksha.

4. Mars can be the cause of following diseases and troubles (1) Excessive thirst, (2) morbid irritation due to billious fever, (3) fear or danger from fire, poison or weapon, (4) leprosy, (5) eye trebles, (6) appendicitis, (7) epilepsy, (8) injury to the marrow, (9) itch in the body, (10) roughness of the body, (11) bodily deformities, (12) fear from the king, fire and thieves, (13) quarrels with brothers, sons or enemies, (14) fighting with the enemies, (15) diseases in the upper part of the body and (16) fear from evil spirits, gandharva and frightful demon.

5. Mercury is concerned with the following diseases and troubles (1) mental confusion (2) harsh speech or trouble in vocal organs, (3) eye troubles, (4) diseases

of the throat, (5) trouble in the nose or nasal affliction, (6) fever caused by imbalance of the three humours — wind, bile and phlagm, (7) ill effects from poisoning (like food poisoning), (8) skin diseases, (9) jaundice, (10) itchning and bad dreams, (11) fear from fire. (12) hard labour, (13) diseases or evil caused by gandharvas etc.

6. Jupiter is responsible for the following diseases and troubles (1) Appendicitis, (2) fever due to infection in intestines, (3) fainting, (4) diseases of the ear, (5) troubles in connection with temple matters, (6) Distress due to curse of Brahmin (7) troubles due to hoarded wealth, (8) oppression caused by Vidyadhara, Yakhsa, kinnaras, Gods, Serpents etc. (9) Punishment due to show of disrespect to preceptor, respected and elderly persona and deviation from duty towards them. This is suffered during the Antar Dasa of Jupiter. This is so determined by the Divine.

7. The diseases and troubles caused by Venus are as follows-(1) Pale complexion due to Anaemia, (2) Eye troubles, urinary obstruction, diabetes, diseases of the generative organs due to imbalance of phlegm and wind, (4) lack of vitality, (5) inability to have sexual inter course (impotency), (6) Pale complexion, lack of lustre and weakness due to excessive indulgence in sexual intercourse, (7) rickets, (8) fear from witches, female ghosts and female deities (9) break in friendship with dear friends.

8. Saturn is likely to be the cause of the following diseases and troubles (1) diseases caused by wind and phelgm, (2) Pain in the legs or becoming lame, (3) fatigue due to excessive labour, (4) mental aberration, (5) Stomach ache, (6) Excessive heat in the body, (7) troubles from servants, (8) distress due to wife and children, (9) injury to some part of the body, (10) mental anguish (11) oppression by ignominious goblin and the like, (12) injury from a blow from a piece of wood or stone (13) misfortune.

9. The diseases and troubles attributed to Rahu are as follows : (1) Heart diseases, (2) theart of burning, (3) leprosy, (4) abarration of mind, (4) diseases caused by poisoning, (5) pain in the legs or injury, (6) distress from wife and children or distress caused on their account, (7) trouble from goblins, serpents or enemies.

Ketu is the cause of (1) Trouble through dispute with Brahmins and Kshatriyas. The troubles due to Gulik are (1) fear from seeing dead bodies (2) poison, (3) bodily pain, (4) sorrow due to the death of a near relation, (5) fear from evil spirits.

10. If the Moon and the Sun occupied the 2nd and 12th houses associated

with or aspected by Mars and Saturn, the native will suffer from eye diseases.

11. If the 6th or 8th house be occupied by the Sun, there would be fear of fever, if by Mars or Ketu, the danger will be from injury or ulcer; if by Venus, it will be through a disease in the private parts, if Jupiter should occupy the 6th or the 8th house, the native will be afflicted with consumption; if Saturn be in such a position, the native will suffer from nervous diseases. If Rahu aspected by Mars be in the 6th or the 8th, the person concerned will suffer from carbuncle. Should Saturn alongwith the Moon posited in 6th or the 8th, native will suffer from enlargement of the spleen. If the waning Moon should occupy the 6th or the 8^th house identical with watery sign, in conjunction with malefic; the person will suffer from watery diseases or consumption.

How to get Wealth, Reputation, Longevity ?

Following is the upaya or the way shown to us by the sages for fullfillment of the desires for Wealth, Reputation, Longevity, If some one is Desiring after Wealth, Reputation, Longevity can read the 4th Canto 12th chapter of Srimad Bhagavata puranam, ofcourse whatever we get in this world is non permanent, but still Krishna and his pure devotees and all the great sages have mercifully alowed us to full fill all our material desires, as long as we have material desires we will be roaming around this material world from brahmaloka to patalaloka it is better to give up the material desires and develop pure love of godhead Krishna.

4.12.45

dhanyam yasasyam ayusyam

punyam svasty-ayanam mahat

svargyam dhrauvyam saumanasyam

prasasyam agha-marsanam

TRANSLATION

By hearing the narration of Dhruva Maharaja one can fulfill desires for wealth, reputation and increased duration of life. It is so auspicious that one can even go to a heavenly planet or attain Dhruvaloka, which was achieved by Dhruva Maharaja, just by hearing about him. The demigods also become pleased because this narration is so glorious, and it is so powerful that it can counteract all the results of one's sinful actions.

PURPORT

There are different types of men in this world, not all of them pure devotees. Some are karmis, desiring to acquire vast wealth. There are also persons who are only after reputation. Some desire to be elevated to the heavenly planets or to go to Dhruvaloka, and others want to please the demigods to get material profits. Herein it is recommended by Maitreya that every one of them can hear the narration about Dhruva Maharaja and thus get their desired goal. It is recommended that the devotees (akama), the karmis (sarva-kama) and the jnanis, who desire to be liberated (moksa-kama), should all worship the Supreme Personality of Godhead to acquire their desired goals of life. Similarly, if anyone hears about the activities of the Lord's devotee, he can achieve the same result. There is no difference between the activities and character of the Supreme Personality of Godhead and those of His pure devotees.

4.12.46

srutvaitac chraddhayabhiksnam

acyuta-priya-cestitam

bhaved bhaktir bhagavati

yaya syat klesa-sanksayah

TRANSLATION

Anyone who hears the narration of Dhruva Maharaja, and who repeatedly tries with faith and devotion to understand his pure character, attains the pure devotional platform and executes pure devotional service. By such activities one can diminish the threefold miserable conditions of material life.

PURPORT

Here the word acyuta-priya is very significant. Dhruva Maharaja's character and reputation are great because he is very dear to Acyuta, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. As the pastimes and activities of the Supreme Lord are pleasing to hear, hearing about His devotees, who are very dear to the Supreme Person, is also pleasing and potent. If one simply reads over and over again about Dhruva Maharaja by hearing and reading this chapter, one can attain the highest perfection of life in any way he desires; most importantly, he gets the chance to become a great devotee. To become a great devotee means to finish all miserable conditions of materialistic life.

4.12.47

 

mahattvam icchataam teertham

srotuh silaadayo gunaah

yatra tejas tad icchunaam

maano yatra manasvinaam

TRANSLATION

Anyone who hears this narration of Dhruva Maharaja acquires exalted qualities like him. For anyone who desires greatness, prowess or influence, here is the process by which to acquire them, and for thoughtful men who want adoration, here is the proper means.

PURPORT

In the material world everyone is after profit, respectability and reputation, everyone wants the supreme exalted position, and everyone wants to hear about the great qualities of exalted persons. All ambitions which are desirable for great persons can be fulfilled simply by reading and understanding the narration of Dhruva Maharaja's activities.

TEXT 48

prayatah keertayet praatah

samavaaye dvi-janmanaam

saayam ca punya-shlokasya

dhruvasya charitam mahat

TRANSLATION

The great sage Maitreya recommended: One should chant of the character and activities of Dhruva Maharaja both in the morning and in the evening, with great attention and care, in a society of brahmanas or other twice-born persons.

PURPORT

It is said that only in the association of devotees can one understand the importance of the character and pastimes of the Supreme Personality of Godhead or His devotees. In this verse it is especially recommended that Dhruva Maharaja's character be discussed in a society of the twice-born, which refers to the qualified brahmanas, ksatriyas and vaisyas. One should especially seek the society of brahmanas who are elevated to the position of Vaishnavas. Thus discussion of Srimad-Bhagavatam, which describes the character and pastimes of devotees and the Lord, is very quickly effective. The International  Society for Krishna Consciousness has been organized for this purpose. In every center of this Society—not only in the morning, evening or noon, but practically twenty-four hours a day—there is continuous devotional service going on. Anyone who comes in contact with the Society automatically becomes a devotee. We have actual experience that many karmis and others come to the Society and find a very pleasing and peaceful atmosphere in the temples of ISKCON. In this verse the word dvi janmanam means "of the twice-born." Anyone can join the International Society for Krishna Consciousness and be initiated to become twice-born. As recommended by Sanatana Gosvami, by the process of initiation and authorized training, any man can become twice-born. The first birth is made possible by the parents, and the second birth is made possible by the spiritual father and Vedic knowledge. Unless one is twice-born one cannot understand the transcendental characteristics of the Lord and His devotees. Study of the Vedas is therefore forbidden for Sudras. Simply by academic qualifications a Sudra cannot understand the transcendental science. At the present moment, throughout the entire world the educational system is geared to produce Sudras. A big technologist is no more than a big Sudra. Kalau sudra-sambhavah: in the age of Kali, everyone is a Sudra. Because the whole population of the world consists only of Sudras, there is a decline of spiritual knowledge, and people are unhappy. The Krsna consciousness movement has been started especially to create qualified brahmanas to broadcast spiritual knowledge all over the world, for thus people may become very happy.

4.12.50

paurnamaasyaam sinivaalyaam

dvaadasyaam sravane 'thavaa

dina-ksaye vyathipaate

sankrame 'rkadine 'pi vaa

sraavayec chraddadhaanaanaam

theertha-paada-padaasrayah

necchams tatraatmanaatmaanam

santusta iti sidhyati

TRANSLATION

 

Persons who have completely taken shelter of the lotus feet of the Lord should recite this narration of Dhruva Maharaja without taking remuneration. Specifically, recitation is recommended on the full moon or dark moon day, on the day after Ekadasi, on the appearance of the Sravana star, at the end of a particular tithi, or the occasion of Vyatipata, at the end of the month, or on Sunday. Such recitation should of course be performed before a favorable audience. When recitation is performed this way, without professional motive, the reciter and audience become perfect.

PURPORT

Professional reciters may ask money to extinguish the blazing fire within their bellies, but they cannot make any spiritual improvement or become perfect. It is therefore strictly forbidden to recite Srimad-Bhagavatam as a profession to earn a livelihood. Only one who is completely surrendered at the lotus feet of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, depending fully on Him for personal maintenance or even for maintenance of his family, can attain perfection by recitation of Srimad-Bhagavatam, which is full of narrations of the pastimes of the Lord and His devotees. The process can be summarized as follows: the audience must be faithfully receptive to the Bhagavata message, and the reciter should completely depend on the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Bhagavata recitation must not be a business. If done in the right way, not only does the reciter achieve perfect satisfaction, but the Lord also is very satisfied with the reciter and the audience, and thus both are liberated from material bondage simply by the process of hearing.
