kṣīra laha ei, yāra nāma ‘mādhava-purī’
tomā lāgi’ gopīnātha kṣīra kaila curi

Translation

Holding the pot of sweet rice, the priest called, “Will he whose name is Mādhavendra Purī please come and take this pot! Gopīnātha has stolen this pot of sweet rice for you!”

Purport

The difference between the Absolute Truth and relative truth is explained here. Lord Gopīnātha has openly declared herein that He is a thief. He had stolen the pot of sweet rice, and this was not kept a secret because His act of stealing is a source of great transcendental bliss. In the material world, theft is criminal, but in the spiritual world the Lord’s stealing is a source of transcendental bliss. Mundane rascals, who cannot understand the absolute nature of the Personality of Godhead, sometimes call Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa immoral, but they do not know that His seemingly immoral activities, which are not kept secret, afford pleasure to the devotees. Not understanding the transcendental behavior of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, these rascals slur His character and immediately fall into the category of miscreants (rascals, lowest among men, demons and those whose knowledge is taken away by the illusory energy). Kṛṣṇa explains in the Bhagavad-gītā (7.15):

na māṁ duṣkṛtino mūḍhāḥprapadyante narādhamāḥ
māyayāpahṛta-jñānā
āsuraṁ bhāvam āśritāḥ

“Those miscreants who are grossly foolish, who are lowest among mankind, whose knowledge is stolen by illusion, and who partake of the atheistic nature of demons do not surrender unto Me.” (Bg. 7.15)

Mundane rascals cannot understand that whatever Kṛṣṇa does, being absolute in nature, is all-good. This quality of the Lord is explained in Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (10.33.29). One may consider certain acts of a supremely powerful person to be immoral by mundane calculations, but this is not actually the case. For example, the sun absorbs water from the surface of the earth, but it does not absorb water only from the sea. It also absorbs water from filthy sewers and ditches containing urine and other impure substances. The sun is not polluted by absorbing such water. Rather, the sun makes the filthy place pure. If a devotee approaches the Supreme Personality of Godhead for an immoral or improper purpose, he nonetheless becomes purified; the Lord does not become infected. In Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (10.29.15) it is stated that if one approaches the Supreme Lord even out of lust, anger or fear (kāmaṁ krodhaṁ bhayam), he is purified. The gopīs, being young girls, approached Kṛṣṇa because He was a beautiful young boy. From the external point of view, they approached the Lord out of lust, and the Lord danced with them at midnight. From the mundane point of view, these activities may appear immoral because a married or unmarried young girl cannot leave home to mix with a young boy and dance with him. Although this is immoral from the mundane viewpoint, the activities of the gopīs are accepted as the highest form of worship because it was Lord Kṛṣṇa whom they approached with lusty desires in the dead of night.

But these things cannot be understood by nondevotees. One must understand Kṛṣṇa in tattva (truth). One should use his common sense and consider that if simply by chanting Kṛṣṇa’s holy name one is purified, how then can the person Kṛṣṇa be immoral? Unfortunately, mundane fools are accepted as educational leaders and are offered exalted posts for teaching irreligious principles to the general populace. This is explained in Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (7.5.31): andhā yathāndhair upanīyamānāḥ. Blind men are trying to lead other blind men. Due to the immature understanding of such rascals, common men should not discuss Kṛṣṇa’s pastimes with the gopīs. A nondevotee should not even discuss His stealing sweet rice for His devotees. It is warned that one should not even think about these things. Although Kṛṣṇa is the purest of the pure, mundane people, thinking of Kṛṣṇa’s pastimes that appear immoral, themselves become polluted. Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu therefore never publicly discussed Kṛṣṇa’s dealings with the gopīs. He used to discuss these dealings only with three confidential friends. He never discussed rāsa-līlā publicly, as the professional reciters do, although they do not understand Kṛṣṇa or the nature of the audience. However, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu encouraged the public chanting of the holy name on a huge scale for as many hours as possible.

So these tiny holes help water to percolate and infuse energy from heat to form gas and get evaporated. Thus, water cools down eventually in these clay pots.

Apart from this, the water stored in refrigerators is too chilled and may feel good to drink in summers, but then it gives our throat a tough time. Vaishnavi or Female Diksha Guru

Krishna is Sun Maya is Darkness

Presented by Ramananda Caitanya Candra Das

Volunteer at ISKCON TIRUVALLUR

Founder SRI GOPALBHATTA GOSVAMI EDUCATION CENTRE, R.K.Pettai Taluk

Letter to: Sri Biswambhar Goswami

Sri Radha Vinode Ji Mandir
33, Ananda Ghat.
Goswami Abhay Charan Bhaktivedanta
Editor.-"BACK TO GODHEAD".

Revered Sri Goswami Ji,

Kindly accept my respectful obeisances. I have come to Vrindaban to see you specially on some important mission.

The attention of Government is now turned to the side of reforming the religious activities of Indian sadhus and Sannyasis and they are now going to enact some statutes in this connection. Of course nothing is possible without the sanction of the Supreme Will of Sri Krishna but still man-made laws must have defects as the lawmakers are deficient in four primary principles of a conditioned soul.

I have come to Vrindaban to consult with you if it is possible to form an association of the Vaisnavas of all Indian Sampradayas to protect the interest and principles of all the Acaryas: Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu amalgamated the views of all the previous Acaryas in His thesis of Acintya-bhedabheda Tattva explicitly explained by Sri Baladeva Vidyabhusana in his Govinda Bhasya of the Vedanta-sutra.

My earnest desire is to form immediately an association of the Vaisnavas and for this purpose I have got one association registered and in the name and style of -

The League of Devotees

(Hindi script - Sarvabhauma Bhagavata Samaj)

I hope in the meantime you have gone through the articles of my paper "Back to Godhead" and the spirit of my writings. I wish that you may kindly arrange for this association at Vrindaban and publish this paper "Back To Godhead" not only in English language but also in other Indian vernaculars under the name and style

(Hindi script:) "Bhagavan Ki Katha"

The news and views of the association "The League of Devotees" may be published with the Sampradaya's interest and in that way the interest of the Vaisnavas will be protected from the onslaught of man-made laws. We may not have any objection for enacting a statute for controlling the unauthorized activities of unscrupulous Sadhus-but we must be prepared to protect the transcendental ideas enunciated by the great Acaryas.

His Holiness Srila Gopala Bhatta Goswami was the originator of Vaisnava Smrti in our Gaudiya Sampradaya and your good self is the worthy descendant of Sri Goswamiji. I hope you will kindly take this matter very seriously and accept my voluntary cooperation in this connection.

Yours sincerely,
A.C. Bhaktivedanta

Reply to Kauteya Dasa Anti Smarta Campaigner : Officially Co-minister, ISKCON Congregational Development Ministry; member, GBC Org Dev; SDO for ISKCON Brazil. GBC Nominations Committee, GBC Nominations Committee, GBC Strategic Planning Team

My Reply to by Kaunteya das

Kauteya Dasa : You are eager to promote your books, and that's understandable. Here the request was (and is), please describe how you see protection of women looks in sattva, rajas and tamas. Can you do that?

Since the Demigods have long life, they are healthy, wealthy, and without selfish motives they would find happiness in helping others, Those who work for the Satisfaction of Lord Vishnu are called Deva Gana or Demigods. Imagine Fire God Agni Protecting Mother Sita.

Whereas Manushya Gana people they have some selfishness, and sometimes they do charitable activities also. Imagine a Film Producer/Director Protecting a Women, They have Commercial intrests.

Whereas Rakshasa Gana people are Too much selfish. So, for the sake of their own selfishness, they do anything and everything. imagine Ravana Protecting Sita in Ashoka Vatika, Sri Lanka he is interested in protecting Mother Sita to fulfill His Lusty desires. on account of which he is destroyed.

Clarification on Anti-Smarta Campaign by Kaunteya das

It is his personal opinion not official ISKCON Position or the ministries in which he is serving.

This morning we had a meeting between His Holiness Jayapataka Maharaja (ISKCON Congregational Development co-minister), Sriman Seva Swarupa Prabhu (the Ministry's General Manager), and Kaunteya das (the other co-minister).

It was considered advisable to clarify, just in case anyone might have a doubt, that this "anti-smarta campaign" is not an initiative of the ISKCON Congregational Development Ministry but it's the personal program of my humble self, Kaunteya das.

We all wear different hats and play different roles - in life and in devotional service. When I write and post about the neo-smartas I am not writing as the Congregational Development co-minister but as a concerned - a very concerned - citizen of ISKCON. While I work on the anti-smarta campaign postings you can imagine me as if I were on a momentary, virtual leave of absence from the Ministry.

ŚB 9.20.22

reto-dhāḥ putro nayati
naradeva yama-kṣayāt
tvaṁ cāsya dhātā garbhasya
satyam āha śakuntalā

Translation

O King Duṣmanta, he who discharges semen is the actual father, and his son saves him from the custody of Yamarāja. You are the actual procreator of this child. Indeed, Śakuntalā is speaking the truth.

Purport

Upon hearing the omen, Mahārāja Duṣmanta accepted his wife and child. According to Vedic smṛti:

pun-nāmno narakād yasmāt
pitaraṁ trāyate sutaḥ
tasmāt putra iti proktaḥ
svayam eva svayambhuvā

Because a son delivers his father from punishment in the hell called put, the son is called putra. According to this principle, when there is a disagreement between the father and mother, it is the father, not the mother, who is delivered by the son. But if the wife is faithful and firmly adherent to her husband, when the father is delivered the mother is also delivered. Consequently, there is no such thing as divorce in the Vedic literature. A wife is always trained to be chaste and faithful to her husband, for this helps her achieve deliverance from any abominable material condition. This verse clearly says, putro nayati naradeva yama-kṣayāt: “The son saves his father from the custody of Yamarāja.” It never says, putro nayati mātaram: “The son saves his mother.” The seed-giving father is delivered, not the storekeeper mother. Consequently, husband and wife should not separate under any condition, for if they have a child whom they raise to be a Vaiṣṇava, he can save both the father and mother from the custody of Yamarāja and punishment in hellish life.
